Exercise 12 Changing the Colour of Your Blog

I have changed the color of my blog to red and selected a dynamic theme which displays the blog from most recent to oldest posts.

Exercise 11 Recomendations

My Local Library is Kogarah Public Library, my recommendations that the library could make in regards to social media in relations to the various heading are:

Local Studies:

Kogarah Library could post up subjects like history or demographics on a page like Facebook and update it and could encourage people to comment on it teachers and students so that there's  more group participation and encouragement.

Students could also use  social media site like Prezi to make assessments, compare and review notes as to how to make their assessments better.

Children:

Kogarah Library could set up a learning system like games calibrated for children and then the children could contact other children about that game, and learn new skills.

Teenage/Youth:

Kogarah Library could advertise on social media sites like face book about upcoming events to do with the libraries i.e.: employability work shops.

Adult Fiction:

For this Section the library could host a website that enables readers of adult ficiton to compare books, add reviews, see upcoming books etc.

Information/Reference:

The Library could have links to various social media like Facebok that promotes some of it's databases, to promote the Library Information/Reference Section.

Exercise 10 Evaluation

My Local Library is Kogarah Library.

Social Media available via Kogarah Public Library under the main points are:

Local Studies:

Under the Local Studies Catalog your Kogarah Library Card can get you access to thousands of independent feature films using indie flix, which is a social media site that allows users to interact with others share and talk about movies.

Children's:

I couldn't find any social media related to Children's section in Kogarah City Library, a reason why is probably because children don't use/have a need for social media.

Teenage/Youth:

Kogarah Public Library is working on developing a social media app that gives young people information about the Kogarah Library, what's on and can allow them to contact various young people staff, and possibly older people that are involved with Kogarah Library.

Adult Fiction:

The Adult Fiction Section of the Kogarah Library has access to Good Reading Magazine, which keeps you up to date on your favorite books and magazine and has a website that enables you to interact with others about your favorite books and magazines.

Information/Reference:

Zinio is a social media website app that enables you to share and download magazines and talk to friends on that social media website.

Exercise 9 Community Profile

Hi Gary it's James, a quick note: My local Library is actually Hurstville but I couldn't find a community Profile of Hurstville, Hurstville is a branch of Kogarah Library, so I have chosen Kogarah Library instead.)

My Local Library is Kogarah Public Library. Kogarah Public Library is a branch library meaning it is a branch of a parent organization, the parent organization of Hurstville Public Library is Kogarah Public Library.

The Community Profile of Kogarah Public Library is:

The Estimated Residential Population of Kogarah Public Library is: 60,411 as of 2013. The Land area of Kogarah is 1,552 Hectares (ha) 16km squared. Population density is 38.92 persons per hectare

Exercise 8 Current Awarness Post

A filter bubble is corporations like Facebook seeing what you click on and view and tailoring your experience so that you see certain things and don't see others, even companies like Google, 2 people searching for the same thing, the example in the video was Egypt, will get different results, one person may get more travel orientated information, where another person may get more detailed information about the country, we live in a world near when information what we view is controlled and edited by the corporations and people even though most don't know are influenced as to what they view or don't view.

Exercise 7 Library Podcasts

I have found a podcast from the National Library of Australia, their website is: http://www.nla.gov.au/podcasts/media.html, I have chosen the podcast entitled: The World Digital Library. Contributor: 666 ABC Drive, Canberra. Date Published: Thursday 9th April, 2009. Duration: 5 minutes and 50 seconds. Format mp3 audio, link: http://www.nla.gov.au/podcasts/media/world-digital-library.mp3

A summary of this podcast is as follows:

* World digital library is being released on the April 21st 2014
* Lots of organisations are being involved in the world digital library like libraries, cultural organisations etc.
* The world digitial library will contain rare maps, manuscripts and mainly items that are difficult or impossible to find in physical libraries
* Promote international understanding

Exercise 6 Social Bookmarking

I have looked at the 2 sources mentioned in your blog: State Library of Tasmania, Website: http://www.linc.tas.gov.au/ and book reviews at Stonnington Library in Victoria, Website: http://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/explore-stonnington/library-services/ , Yes I think that libraries should be providing book review services because it promotes books gives you an idea of what's popular and what books you will have a higher chance of liking/enjoying, my local library Kogarah City Council Library Branch Hurstville, their website is: http://lmg.hurstville.nsw.gov.au/  and no it doesn't offer book reviews.

Exercise 5 Social Networking

I think it is a good idea for libraries to participate in social media and social media websites because:

* They can encourage people to be participants of various library activities, whether these be community workshops like how to use technology or to borrow books from the library more, social media will encourage more people to use the library and their resources more.

* Social Media can also encourage people to talk about the library and can improve their general standard with young people and older people who communicate about the library and use the library.

* It is another good idea for libraries to use social media because they can keep up to date with various trends regarding people today such as more information being available online and therefore the library have to meet that need by downsizing their print resources (still having some print resources) but improving their online collections

Exercise 4 Youtube Exercise Download Nancy Pearl Video

Here is a Nancy Pearl Video that I have inserted.

A summary of points on her video to do with librarian values:

* Libraries are a place of equal rights and opportunities as long as someone is not offensive anyone can use the library

* The library is  place where people meet and learn whether they are looking for facts or reading, whether it be fiction or non-fiction or a mixture.

Exercise 3 Photo Sharing and Flickr

For this exercise from Flick from a library uploaded posts a photo that I have chosen is

I chose this photo because it is of a library and I like the aesthetics of the picture, this picture is cropped via ms paint, the site that I got this picture from is:
